About the D-Fliers Project
We are an interdisciplinary team harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to mitigate the impact of weather-related flight delays and promote climate-resilient aviation systems.
D-Fliers is a student-led research team using artificial intelligence to address challenges in air travel reliability, particularly those driven by climate change. Our predictive models leverage historical flight data from the BTS and weather data from the Visual Crossing API to estimate potential delays before they happen.
With the rise in climate-induced disruptions, we believe it's time to bridge data science, environmental awareness, and aviation planning.
Data Sources
BTS (flight data), Visual Crossing API for weather data for historical weather and future weather forecasting, Airports Dataset from Kaggle.
Models Used
XGBoost Regressor, LSTM
Project Pipeline
Data collection → Preprocessing → Modeling → Evaluation → Deployment
